It’s almost 100% certain that Google will announce the Pixel and Pixel XL at their October 4th event, there aren’t many details about the devices or any official information about their specifications and hardware, or what the cost will be. There are many rumors going around regarding these details, but a new rumor has come up that suggests something about Google’s newest smartphones. The Pixel and Pixel XL will both have an IP53 rating, which is barely water and dust resistant according to the new rumor.
Although there was nothing else to suggest they were going to be water resistant, it was expected that they would include that feature as many flagship devices include it. This might be unfortunate for people who were looking forward to owning one of Google’s new smartphones this year, especially because $649 is the rumored base price for the Pixel, the smaller model of the two smartphones.
It might be a shock to find out that these smartphones could have such a high price tag and not include this feature that could be found on other devices that cost the same price. While this is still just a rumor, there is still a chance that it will start at $649. Pixel and Pixel XL users will just have to be a little more cautious with their smartphone around water. With that being said, it will still get rid of some of the peace of mind people would have if their phones have a rating of IP68. Some situations are completely avoidable such as having it out in the rain, or dropping it in water, but some aren’t when other people have caused accidents. You can’t control what accidents happen when other people have your phone whether it be an adult or child. It’s also important to keep in mind that both smartphones have an IP53 rating, which is better than having nothing at all.
