Instagram has added a new feature onto its platform which allows users to share their stories from the camera and also interact with their friends and followers on the platform. But the thing is that your live story disappears from the app after the video ends. Friends and followers can also comment on it which make it a lot more fun and interactive.
The Live video on Instagram is similar to Facebook but the only thing that distinguishes them is that the live video on Instagram automatically get deleted after users live stream. On the other hand, Facebook allows users to keep their video for as long as they want.
Posting your live video on Instagram is pretty simple, you just swipe to show your camera and tap “Start Live Video”. Instagram will notify your followers and build your audience. What’s more is that users can allow their friends to comment on their video or disable it.
Instagram’s head of product, Kevin Weil says the broadcasts will last for a very short time to make people feel at ease in a medium that can often feel intimidating. “You can be comfortable because you know they’re not going to stick around,” he said of the live broadcasts.
“The use case that caught our attention was people just hanging out on live, particularly young people,” “After school, they jump on a live stream and hang out. That use of live video is particularly interesting to us.” – Shilpa Sarkar, the product manager for Instagram live.
