The iPhone 6 marked Apple’s introduction to the bigger screened smartphone market, as they released iPhones with a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display, respectively. Before that, Apple was only making smartphones with a display size if 4-inches. Apple has also been very adamant saying that they won’t make phones bigger than the two screen options that they offer currently. However, that could soon change according to a rumor out of East Asia claiming that Apple will add a third form factor to its iPhone product portfolio in 2017. The phone would have a rumored 5-inch screen, and it would share internal components of next years 7 and 7 Plus “s” cycle offerings.
The rumored phone would also feature the same dual-lens camera array that is found on the iPhone 7 plus. However, the orientation of the camera system would be positioned vertically instead of the horizontal position that is currently being used. Although, the possibility of the iPhone 7s Plus getting this change as well is still unclear.
These plans still could change, as Taiwanese suppliers are expected to receive finalized specifications within the first quarter of 2017. We will of course let you know when we get more reports in about Apple’s latest iPhones, so stay tuned to TechDependent for more.
