The smartphone industry is jam-packed with competitors, all battling for the top spot as the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer. In third place, we find Huawei – a Chinese underdog. Around about a month ago, we saw Huawei confirm it’s latest flagship smartphone, the Mate 9. This time, the company is looking forward to releasing the Mate 9 worldwide without leaving the US out. There were recent reports and rumours suggesting that the Mate 9 may suffer from carrier issues which could prevent it from going worldwide. However, the well-known leaker, Evan Blass, has stated that Huawei’s Mate 9 will land in stores across the US on January 6, 2017.
Looking at some of the specs of the new smartphone, Huawei’s 5.9-inch 1080p flagship will boast a dual rear-facing camera utensil, a Kirin 960 processor, powered by a 4,000 mAh battery, with 4GB of RAM, supported by 64GB of internal storage space, all operating on Huawei’s EMUI 5.0 operating system which is inspired by Android Nougat.
Big mobile networks and carriers have had issues working with Huawei, but the device could potentially be available on T-Mobile as well as AT&T. At the moment, we don’t have any official news regarding the smartphone’s US price, but reflecting on its European price tag of €700, it could possibly level to around $750 – that’s Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge category.
