Motorola’s smartwatches have been some of the best Android Wear smartwatches ever. Their most popular smartwatch may be the Moto 360 (1st generation). The first generation of the Moto 360 was also the first circular Android Wear smartwatch. Unfortunately, the Moto 360 family is rumored to be ended.
A new Moto 360 made by Lenovo was supposed to be announced at the IFA 2016 event, but it never came. In fact, 2016 has been a pretty boring year for all Android Wear lovers out there. This is a bad thing for Google. They want some fresh smartwatches to be released, that can boast their upcoming Android Wear 2.0 update.
The smartwatch market isn’t so hectic at the moment, and it does not need an annual refresh, according to Moto’s head of product development. If you have enough money, you often want to buy a new smartphone almost every year because you want the latest features and specs. But most people use their wearables for a pretty long time before they buy a new one. This means that most companies don’t prioritize smartwatches that much, compared to smartphones. If wearables become more popular, Lenovo may make a new Moto 360.
Google’s latest smartphones, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, are said to be “Made By Google”. If Google can’t find any manufacturer that wants to roll out Android Wear 2.0 in a new smartwatch, they will only have one option. They will need to make a smartwatch – Made By Google.
