There has been a trend going around lately that manufactures have created called “neckbuds” or, headphones that you wear around your neck. The trend continues on but with a different twist from LG. Now, traditionally you would have two earbuds connected to the horseshoe shaped device that you could then plug into your ear. Well, replace the earbuds with two stereo speakers, and you’d have LG’s Tone Studio.
The Tone Studio continues the trend of the Neckbuds but this time offers two full-range speakers and a pair of vibrating speakers for an immersive surround sound. There is also a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) on board, and DTS 3D surround sound compatibility. There are still two wireless earbuds that connect to the Tone Studio, and when paired together, it can share audio from a single source.
If the speaker functionality just isn’t your thing, there is also the Tone Free, which according to LG, is the first wireless stereo unit that will charge the included wireless earbuds whenever they’re stored in the neckband. You can also accept or dismiss calls with simple voice commands.
There are more devices than the two above that LG will showcase during CES next week, and if you can’t make it to the show, they should be available within the next couple of months. We will have much more to cover when CES hits so stay tuned to TechDependent for our show coverage.
