Google has sent a letter to Android Wear app developers regarding the new update. The letter confirms that Android Wear 2.0 will be released in early February this year!
The update will come with many new functions. This means that app developers will need to optimise their applications for the new features. That was probably the main reason why Google sent the letter. The biggest thing developers must optimise it that you will be able to download standalone apps straight from your watch. If the developer doesn’t fix the new installation mechanism they won’t appear on the Android Wear app market.
Some other features that will come are new watch faces, easier typing via a built-in keyboard, easier notification managing, and an improved version of the fitness application. The update will also bring a new material design User Interface. Google Assistant is also rumoured to come, but it’s not confirmed.
When Android Wear 2.0 comes, Google is expected to also launch two smartwatches, of course with the new update onboard. But not every Android Wear watch out there will get Wear 2.0, including the first generation Moto 360 and the LG G Watch.
