The Amazon Echo was a great device and did not need much improvement, but Lenovo decided to improve it anyways. The new Lenovo Smart Assistant looks very similar to the Amazon Echo and even features Alexa as the assistance and uses the Echo App. Lenovo says the Echo was a great device but lacks great sound and they want to change that with their new personal assistant.
As far as the design, it is a dual-colored version of the Amazon Echo with the top half being white and bottom half being an optional color of gray, green or orange woven overlay. On top it has a chrome outline that is lifted and can be used to adjust the volume. Inside the bottom half is a Intel Celeron N3060 processor, 5-watt tweeter and 10-watt woofer for an an amazing speaker.
This device looks much better than the Amazon Echo and the standard edition costs 50 dollars less and features more colors with a promise to bring sharper sound quality. This sounds like it could be 2017’s best personal assitant. The one down side of it is that the device is not modular, therefore you can not change the bottom half like you could with the Google Home. If the speaker is not a big concern to you, than you can save a lot by getting the Amazon Dot for only 50 dollars.
Keep in mind that only the standard one is 130 dollars, Lenovo will also feature a Harman Kardon edition for 180 dollars. If you are planning to buy one, they will be available in May 2017.
