CES is typically filled with a lot of TV news as well as future concepts, and the latest comes from LG with the announcement of their new OLED TV concept, that has a unique sound system dubbed “Crystal Sound.”

The Crystal Sound displays are an industry first, and they host a sound system embedded directly into the OLED panel. LG explains that they could do this because of how space-saving occurs in OLED technology, as it doesn’t require backlighting. As a result, the sound delivered by the TV is more immersive in nature as it is coming behind the image, rather than off-center speaker setups. However, how well the speakers produce sound is yet to be determined.

Dispassionately, the Crystal Sound is only a prototype, but we could be seeing this technology arriving in TVs very soon.
