Typically at CES, we see manufacturers go all out with new electronics when it comes to features and design. Samsung’s latest washer and dryer pair is no exception to this, as they have just announced the FlexWash + FlexDry laundry system, which uses a four-in-one design.
The system promises to be “the most advanced, flexible laundry solution” in the world. Starting off with the FlexWash, it offers five cubic feet of laundry capacity, which according to Samsung, is the largest for machines in its class. What’s more is there is a second washer on top, which has a one-cubic-foot capacity. This means that you can wash two loads of laundry at once.
LG also had a system just like this with the Twin Wash system, which allowed for washing two loads at once. When it comes to drying, however, the Twin-Wash system fell short, as you could only still dry one load at a time. Samsung goes the step above and adds a second ‘FlexDry’ rack dryer on the top of the main unit that’ll automatically adjust temperature based on the fabric inside.
Both the Washer/Dryer combo can be fully controlled by the Samsung Smart Home app, which lets you automatically run loads and monitor the progress of the wash load from places other than the laundry room.
It is important to mention that Samsung is recently under investigation and a 2.8 million washing machine recall for the top of the machines spontaneously and dangerously pop off. While the main washing unit is side loading, the companion unit is front facing, so this is something to consider when looking at these new washing machines.
Samsung hasn’t announced pricing or availability information just yet, but they are displaying the units at CES 2017 this week, so it is possible more information will be coming soon.
