Alongside the announcement of an exclusive new (Product)Red color iPhone 7/7 Plus, they also announced a new 9.7-inch iPad that now has a faster A9 processor, as well as a brighter Retina Display. The new iPad will be replacing the older iPad Air 2, which as you can guess, is now being discontinued.
The new iPad, which is simply being called “iPad,” is Apple’s latest entry level tablet. It’ll start at $329 for the 32GB model and $429 for the 128GB model. The new iPad features a thinner body, improved screen and better processor than the Air 2, but it does not have a fully laminated display or an anti-reflective coating.
Moving onto other specifications, the device has a 9.7-Inch screen that has a resolution of 2048 x 1536, making it have a PPI of 264. There is an 8-Megapixel rear-facing iSight camera, a 1.2-Megapixel front-facing FaceTime camera, two speakers, a lightning connector, a 3.5mm headphone jack, TouchID that supports Apple Pay, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2.
The new iPad will be available to customers to order starting on Friday, March 24th from Apple’s website, and it’ll be delivered to customers and arriving in Apple Stores, plus Apple Authorized Resellers in the US and 20 other countries and regions next week.
