If you own a Nest security camera you definitely not want your camera footage and other personal information to be hacked, because that would mean that the hackers would be able to see videos and photos the camera has taken in your home. Luckily, Nest has now added a new feature that brings two-factor authentication, which will make it easier to protect your account from unauthorized people.
Every time you are login into your account a text message with a verification code will be sent to you, and then you simply use the code and your password to log in. You can find the ability to turn this feature on and off under Account Security in Nest’s application. Note that you will need to log in to your account again after you’ve activated this feature.
A research showed that hackers could control your home after they have hacked your Nest, so it’s very important that you try to keep your account secure. People can hack your SMS and get the verification code, so this isn’t the most secure option that Nest could have choosen. However, a strong password and a two-factor authentication will make your account harder to hack compared to an account without the new feature from Nest activated. Do you have a Nest product?
