Spotify’s popular free account plan could be facing a big change, according to a report obtained via The Verge. The report is claiming that Spotify would be limiting certain albums created by artists only to the premium account level, and no longer available for everyone to listen to, no matter if the account is free or paid. There is currently no list as to which albums would be put on that list, however.

While there is no clear explanation as to why the switch is happening, it could be seen as a wise business move for investors to join in as there have also been reports of the company releasing an IPO; or Initial Public Offering.

There is also no set criteria as to what would make an album available for all users, or just paid accounts. In any case, we’ll update you with more information as it becomes available. If you don’t have a premium account, it seems as though time might be right to hop on the bandwagon. What do you think of the change?
