With digital assistants becoming more and more common and useful for people, Amazon has decided to take it to the next level. Due to the huge amount of data gathered through users and constant improvement, Alexa has become one of the best digital assistants despite it being quite new to the market compared to other assistants like Siri.
One of the main reasons that people have had trouble in using digital assistants is the lack of human touch. Well, Amazon has decided to blow the competition out of the water by announcing that they will soon add a “human-touch” to Alexa. Just like a normal human being, Alexa will be able to adjust its rate of speech, its pitch, volume of voice and pausing to add emphasis. It will also be able to whisper and she’ll even be capable to “bleep” out phrases. New tools will be provided to Alexa app developers like the Speech Synthesis Markup Language, which will enable them to add speech patterns into their applications. There are now over 12,000 Alexa abilities on the marketplace but it’s unknown what number of builders will in truth put the brand new voice tags to work.
The addition of this new feature will be a big step ahead for Alexa, which already has quite a lot of personality. However, this features greatly relies on an active developer neighbourhood so that it is added on every Skill.
