About six years ago the amount of shipped smartphones was higher than the number of shipped PCs for the first time ever. Reports from 2014 also showed us that people use their phones more than their computers. This was just the start of the smartphone era. Today, the internet is reached more often via an Android phone than Windows PC, which is more proof that mobile phones are more popular than computers.
These reports from StatCounter claim that 37.93% of the internet usage takes place on Android devices, while Windows computers stand for 37.91% of the usage. This is actually not unexpected at all if you keep in mind that there’s a lot more smartphones that were shipped than computers last year (1.5 billion smartphones compared to 270 million PCs). Another reason for this can also be that smartphones are more common than computers in poor countries because they’re often cheaper. Do you think that computers will be used less in the near future? Do you use your smartphone or computer the most?
