Within the last few hours “WhatsApp”, a widely used messaging app has crashed and hasn’t come back online yet for many parts of the world. As of now, WhatsApp hasn’t posted anything on their Twitter account informing users of the issue, but it’s expected some announcement should happen at some point if this issue continues. Most are thinking it’s an issue with the servers because of the fact that the app is still down.
According to The Verge, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to the app. A few years ago a similar problem occurred. WhatsApp is a platform that uses your device’s internet connection to send text messages or to have video chats. While using your internet connection, data charges shouldn’t apply and you can chat with co-workers, friends, etc overseas.
As of last year, according to WhatsApp, 1 billion people were using the app. If this issue lasts for an extended period of time, it could seriously affect some communication in all different situations.
