Within the next few months, we should see some new features from Instagram, one of them being “Favorites”. Have you ever heard of a “Finstagram”, or “Finsta”? Maybe your friend has one or you have one, but most “Finstas” are used to post content that the user wants only his or her closest, or “favorite” friends to see. Some may argue isn’t that what your normal Instagram account should be? Just your friends? It’s complicated. A “Finsta” post shouldn’t be judged as much as your regular account because it’s only your closest friends, hopefully, that makes sense.
Instagram is addressing the fact that users are creating “Finstas” and trying to make it easier. You will soon be able to create a list of your favorite followers and only they can see specific posts or stories on your Instagram. As UberGizmo states, you will be able to edit this list at all times, so people can be taken off or added.
It’s a crazy world on social media, especially when it comes to user’s privacy. Instagram is taking steps to hopefully give users more privacy and makes them feel secure on social media, not judged or harmed.
Will you use the favorites feature? Or do you only let you closest friends follow your account in the first place? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @techdependent.
