Despite packing an impressive load of performance, Gigabyte’s new GTX 1080’s size is at a pretty humble 6.7 inches long, which is nearly 5 inches shorter than a regular GTX 1080. The company seems to be gearing itself towards the mini-ITX market with the aim of bringing higher performance to its users. The upgrade possibilities of portable desktop gaming rigs are pretty limited due to their restricting sizes.
As for cooling, Gigabyte opted for copper composite heat pipes and a 90mm fan with a custom blade design and thanks to 3D Active fan technology, you’ll barely hear it when it’s running on a light load. The card can also be overclocked in one click using the provided software so no need to struggle with settings to squeeze some more speed out of it.
However, no details have been provided concerning its price but I would not expect it to be cheap despite its small size. This new card will be an awesome component for your existing or future mini-ITX portable build and will definitely blow most laptops away.
Is Gigabyte going into the right direction with this type of graphics card? Let us know in the comments section!
