Lyft drivers who love Google Maps as their favourite navigation app won’t need to swap between apps anymore since it has been officially integrated into the app as default. This has been a major complaint with many Lyft drivers for a while and their calls have finally been answered. Google Maps has always been great in navigation as well as real-time traffic feedback. This integration is now only live for Android and will soon be available for iOS.
Lyft is hoping that this feature will allow drivers to focus more on driving and passenger safety rather than changing apps for navigation. This integration was made possible by former Google engineer Luc Vincent who helped pioneer Street View. As for the drivers who prefer Waze, Lyft has got you covered since drivers can opt out of the in-app navigation.
Just like Uber, riders will be able to hail Lyft rides without leaving the app. Lyft will also be expanding its coverage to a 100 more cities this year and this app update will definitely help existing and future drivers.
Will this integration really be helpful to the app? Let us know in the comment section.
