Synaptics has just announced a massive breakthrough in smartphone security and convenience, something that will get the smartphone industry a step closer to a completely bezel-less display; an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Clear ID FS9500 is the world’s first fingerprint scanner integrated into the actual display and is promised to give you an experience that is comparable to the scanners that you already know today. The sensor will be able to scan your finger in different conditions, such as warm, cold and even wet fingers.

Not only did they announce the sensor, they also announced that they have a partnership with one of the top 5 smartphone manufacturers of the moment. They also mentioned “bezel-free OLED infinity displays” in their press-release which makes it almost completely definite that the partnership will be with Samsung, as their Galaxy S8 and Note 8 display’s are called “infinity displays”.

The whole smartphone world is eagerly waiting to see if the Galaxy S9 will be the first phone shipped with this sensor. What do you think? Connect with us on social media and leave a comment down below.
