Texas car tuners Hennessey Performance, the company that unveiled the Venom F5 which competes with top dogs such as Bugatti’s Chiron, finally jumped into Christmas mode. The crew pulled out a Dodge Challenger and got their hands on a Christmas tree, so you know what that means.
Now, this isn’t just a normal Dodge Challenger, this is the SRT Hellcat Widebody variant of the car – a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 empowered by 707-horsepower. Reaching speeds of 174 miles-per-hour isn’t something that we’re allowed to do on rural roads, so the team proceeded to a closed track.
The outcome? The Hellcat managed to hit a solid 174mph run but was only 3mph shy of the result that the “tree-less” Hellcat accomplished. Surprisingly, the tree still had needles attached although it was holding on at speeds that most trees won’t ever witness in their lives. Thanks to Hennessey’s interesting experiment, you now know that if you ever fall into the situation of darting home in time with a last-minute Christmas tree, it will most likely be left unharmed.
