While many auto manufacturers are looking at ways to integrate voice assistants such as Alexa into their vehicles, American automaker Ford is taking a different approach and instead including popular traffic app Waze into their SYNC 3 infotainment system.

All 2018 Ford and Lincoln models which have SYNC 3 will gain the same Waze features that are on the mobile app, such as navigation, traffic updates and warnings, HOV lane support, and the new Talk to Waze feature.

Ford isn’t distancing itself away from integrating Alexa, either. In fact, the company also announced their new Ford+Alexa app for SYNC, which lets drivers use Alexa’s skills while using the SYNC infotainment system.

The update to include Waze support will be launching in the next couple weeks, which lets users connect their phone in and use the app through the touchscreen or in-car voice commands.
