There hasn’t been a phone for selfie enthusiasts in a while, but HTC hopes to break this long wait with its new U11 Eyes smartphone. The name of the device entails the smartphone’s special feature, its dual front-camera set-up. The selfie-shooters have 5 megapixels paired with a f/2.2 aperture with an 80-degree wide view, these two shooters create the option for live-bokeh or portrait mode, with an option to shift focus after the picture has been taken. The front cameras also add real-time stickers. These are like Snapchat’s face filters. HTC has taken full advantage of the two front cameras by adding a face unlock feature.
The rear camera is, despite this being a budget phone, rather impressive. It has 12 megapixels and a f/1.7 aperture. It records at 4K with OIS. The design is mostly the same as the U11 with the liquid metal glossy back, with just some minor differences between the two at the camera lens.
The phone will have a 64GB model with 4GB of RAM running together with an octa-core Snapdragon 652. It will release in Hong Kong for $500 on the 17th of January 2018. It will come with three colour options: Amazing Silver, Ceramic Black and Solar Red.
