While we’ve seen devices come out over the past month with Amazon’s Alexa integration, meaning that you can use Alexa to control the electronics. However, iDevices is taking that process a step further by actually integrating Alexa itself into their new Instinct smart light switch. This means that it essentially becomes a miniature Echo device complete with an integrated speaker to control other devices all around the home.

The Instinct can be turned on or off by using Alexa, but because of the built-in integration, you can also check the news, weather, traffic updates, search for recipes, and so much more right from the light switch. There is even a blue LED light that activates when you use Alexa, just like what happens on an Echo device.

That’s not all, however – the switch can be controlled via Google Assistant, Siri, the iDevices app alongside other Alexa-enabled devices. For the final touch, the Instinct also has an ambient light sensor and a motion detector to automatically turn on your lights when it detects movement.

The iDevices Instinct is expected to launch sometime this year, with no specific price point or release date specified. In the meantime, what are your thoughts on the Alexa-powered smart switch? Let us know in the comments down below, or on any of our social media pages.
