When you hear the brand name Kohler, chances are you’re thinking about the normal, everyday plumbing products for the kitchen, bathroom, and other places around the house that they produce. Normally, you wouldn’t associate the brand to produce smart home products. However, the company is at CES 2018 showcasing a new platform called Kohler Konnect, which lets users interact their new line of devices by using with presets to control them with motion or voice and even Amazon’s Alexa.
Kohler Konnect applies to a wide range of products: from showers, mirrors, and even toilets all work with the new system. As a benefit, users can remotely ask to start a warm shower, warm a toilet seat, adjust the mirrors lighting, start running bath water to the desired depth, and other use cases. Kohler developed a new app for both iOS and Android, which lets users control environmental presets, automate tasks, and even monitor water usage, all thanks to the Konnect system. As mentioned earlier, some of the devices in the Konnect lineup have Alexa integration, alongside Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit.
Kohler’s Verdara Voice Lighted monitor, pictured above, will be the first device to have the Konnect system enabled and will reach store shelves sometime in March, with others coming later this year.
