While there are a lot of top-tier companies who announce products at CES every year, it is often some of the smaller companies with the cooler products. Take for example a company by the name of Wireless Mobi Solution, who just unveiled their new smartphone that has a built-in laser projector.
First impressions of the device make it look like your everyday mid-range Android smartphone, with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor, 8-Megapixel front-facing camera, 16-Megapixel rear camera, a 4,000mAh battery, alongside running Android Nougat. The price comes in at $599, but there is a hidden trick that makes the phones price almost worth it.
There is a 50-lumen laser projector that supports up to 720p video at up to 100 inches, with an 80,000:1 contrast ratio. Like Motorola’s MotoMod Projector, it can be used to display whatever is currently displayed on the smartphone, such as games, movies, pictures, or just the home screen.
This isn’t a new idea, however. Samsung also tried this with their Galaxy Beam smartphone, alongside the aforementioned MotoMod by Motorola. Neither of which has really kicked off, so it will be interesting to see what makes this product better or different than what is already offered.
If you are still interested, you can buy the Moviphone via the company’s website, although it will take at least six weeks to get delivered to you.
