Images of cars being leaked ahead of official unveiling aren’t something that usually happens, but Ferrari has in fact been the victim in this case. It’s yet-to-be-launched 488 Pista has been leaked online just before it makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show early March.
Supercar enthusiasts across the world have been anticipating a successor to Ferrari’s 458 Speciale, and thanks to a Ferrari forum, a lot of those enthusiasts’ thirst has been quenched. Leaked images show the car boasting an aggressive front bumper supported by tall headlights, as well as an energised exhaust system which is complemented by a stimulated rear diffuser. The Italian sports car titan is very well-known for its track cars being finished with a sporty decal, and the leaked 488 Pista follows this tradition.
Reports suggest that the car will operate with the most powerful V8 engine in the history of the company. Expecting the base model to juice out 661bhp, the more premium version could potentially reach 700bhp. Focusing on the premium version, or the “ultimate” Ferrari 488, it is said to star a series of high-tech gear.
A ‘race’ gearshift, brand-new Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres wrapped around 20-inch alloys, a well-defined direct steering ratio as well as a front S-duct and a rear diffuser stemmed from Ferrari’s 488 GTE Le Mans supercar. Its body is claimed to be 20% more aerodynamic than the current 488, due to the new “aero package”, utilising carbon fibre front and rear bumpers and even the bonnet. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Ferrari has decided to implement any infotainment or gadgets for the average tech guy, and the interior glovebox has been sacrificed and so have the standard road-legal seats, which are now substituted with carbon fibre racing seats.
No details of the price or actual specifications have been confirmed as Ferrari will do the job at Geneva next month. Would you spend a fortune on this supercar if you had the money? Let us know below!
