Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, recently posted leaked images on Twitter showing off the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 as well as the new DeX Pad. The DeX Pad, which actually was the main product in these images, will be the successor of the DeX dock from 2017. When a Galaxy S9 smartphone is plugged into the DeX, the device will connect the phone to a monitor so it can be used as a computer. The Galaxy phone will not only act as the main power resource but also as a touchpad or keyboard. The DeX Pad might be functioning with the older Galaxy S8 as well.

The leaked pictures show a smartphone connected to the DeX, and it’s likely the Galaxy S9. We can clearly see in the images that the S9 will have a headphone jack. The previous S8 also has a 3.5mm jack, but many thought that Samsung would ditch it in their next generation flagship. Samsung, LG, and OnePlus are some of the few leading smartphone manufacturers that still keep the headphone jack, but they will have to remove it eventually to keep up with the latest technology.
We can also see the volume rocker, the On/Off switch and the Bixby button on the sides of the phone. The Bixby button was one of the least liked things of the S8, especially since you couldn’t remap it to do something else. On the other hand, Samsung might bring some really cool updates that make Bixby more popular — we will have to wait and see.
Samsung keeping the headphone jack is probably a good thing for many, especially since USB Type-C and Bluetooth headphones are usually more expensive than normal. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments!
