Before the actual smartphone itself has even been unveiled to the world, an anonymous Reddit user had already shared their own review of the upcoming device. With a reveal date of 25th February, Samsung‘s latest flagship smartphone had suffered from numerous leaks during the build-up, but now a hands-on review has (well, had been) written in black and white. What you are about to read consists of some potential spoilers, so please click here if you only want to read the official news later this week.
However, it has been brought to light that the Reddit user has deleted their account which also means that the original post, as well as the account’s responses, can no longer be viewed.
Going back to the original story, the Reddit user had spent the best part of 20 minutes with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and decided to share their experience of the device in the form of a review. The only alarm bell with the review is the fact that the device is just a model which is claimed to be the closest thing to the final product, so there may potentially be a few final tricks up Samsung’s sleeve this weekend.
The review assured that the near bezel-free appearance of both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones are almost identical to that of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones which are currently holding flagship positions. A clear change from the predecessors is that the S9 duo could feature stereo speakers – one being implemented in the earpiece of the smartphone, while the other one is found at the bottom. This is in an attempt to ensure that the speakers are not covered when you hold the device. To follow that up, the Reddit user suggested that there is a significant advancement of the quality of sound in comparison to the Galaxy S8.
Another area that the user spoke about was the camera, complemented by higher frame rates supporting 4K video. There wasn’t any word on the number of megapixels, and the review model was said to not have 1,000 FPS slow-motion mode, which has been anticipated for quite a while. Underneath the camera module, the user reported that the fingerprint sensor had been moved to there instead of being placed on the left side of the camera just like its predecessor. Things get a little tricky when only the Galaxy S9+ allegedly features a dual camera, while its smaller counterpart, the Galaxy S9 only features a single member.
Take it with a grain of salt for now, but all will be revealed on the 25th of this month as Samsung prepares to take the big stage at Barcelona – stay tuned to our website as we’ll be the first to cover it. Find out everything we know so far about Samsung’s Galaxy S9 here.
